"Dark Knight rises" shoots scene of riot in New York

Chaos descended on the streets of New York City this week as Director Christopher Nolan filmed the scenes of riot for his new film of Batman.

Shocked passers-by watched as a host of extras and actors waving false pistols loaded on a road of Manhattan in a scene for The Dark Knight Rises, which stars Christian Bale: the Caped Crusader.

Nearly 1,000 Extras, with actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt with a Gotham City Police Department uniform, took part in the financial district of the city near stem.

Filming will continue in the region over the weekend and posters were placed around the neighbourhood by producers warning residents to expect false shots in the coming days, according to the Dnainfo.com.

The film, which also stars Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman, is due to release in July 2012.
